MHHS_LogoFor the second year in a row, the Greenbuild Conference and Expo will feature the Materials + Human Health Summit. The inaugural summit last year centered largely on transparency and the emerging programs developed to support the disclosure of environmental and health attributes of building products. This year, we are shifting the focus to implementation. LEED v4 is already being used by over 300 project teams and as these early adopters use the rating system, some are left wondering how the new tools referenced in the rating system make better buildings. During the summit, we’ll focus on the business case for both manufacturers looking to differentiate their products in the marketplace as well as designers and owners struggling to justify the additional time needed to learn these new programs. In Applying Whole Building LCA, hear from Skanska and Arup about how whole building LCA impacted the structural design on two recent designs. Members of the HPD Collaborative’s Manufacturer Advisory Panel Supply Chain Working Group will elucidate best practices for communicating rigorous sustainability attributes along the supply chain in the What is a Product? session. Get a peek behind the curtain in I’m Just a Bill and learn about the complexities manufacturers face when making modifications to product lines.

Rear Admiral
Boris D. Lushniak, MD, MPH
Acting US Surgeon General – US Public Health Service

The summit is unique in that it provides a smaller forum than the main Greenbuild conference for more one on one interaction with peers and industry leaders. The education sessions are designed to be interactive and engaging. We hope that you find yourself empowered at the end of the day. This year’s summit also features 2 great Opening and Closing plenary speakers. Opening Session will be presented by William McDonough, internationally recognized designer, sustainable growth pioneer and strategist; and Closing Session speaker, Rear Admiral Boris D. Lushniak, MD, MPH – Acting US Surgeon General for the US Public Health Service. Need help getting to Greenbuild? There are a limited number of scholarships to cover registrations costs. Scholarships are competitive and preference is given to those with a demonstrated need who represent under-served people and communities.
